Events Programme

There will be a range of events and demonstrations throughout the day of the Festival.

Details will be updated as soon as they become available.

From recipe books and magazines, to Instagram and adverts, the world of food photography is something
we are all very familiar with. Learn the tricks of the trade, behind the scene tips and basic camera workings
to achieve visually appetising content, with food photographer, Neil White, and food stylist, Helen Upshall.

Join them as they rustle up some delicious shots, using ingredients from the market, and talk you through
building up each element to create images good enough to eat.

Wells Town Hall, 1.00 and 2.30  Entrance free

Join an important debate about the things that Somerset stands for

In Somerset, we are intensely proud of our local food and drink. The question is – should they now become central to Somerset’s cultural identity, a key element of our face to the world, what distinguishes Somerset from the rest?
What would be the direct benefits to our farmers, our producers, our independent retailers,
our tourism, our economy, our employment, our people?

We’ll address the issue in informed debate, with contributions from a panel representing producers, farmers,
the business world and conservation. We will learn, discuss and generate a range of concrete, workable ideas
to form part of the Wells City of Culture presentation to Government.

Wells Town Hall, 11 to 12.30  Entrance free

Take part in setting the Guinness World Record for making the largest recorded dish of sauerkraut,
which will require hundreds of volunteers to chop at least 300 kilos of cabbage.

Come and join us in the Recreation Ground, next to the bowling green, between 10 am and 4 pm.
